Tips for Expressing Emotions in Hindi

  1. Use “मैं … हूँ” (Main … hoon): This pattern works for most feelings:

    • मैं खुश हूँ। (I am happy.)

    • मैं दुखी हूँ। (I am sad.)

  2. Adjectives change for gender:

    • Male: थका हुआ (thaka hua), डर गया (dar gaya)

    • Female: थकी हुई (thaki hui), डर गई (dar gayi)

  3. Double up with body language! Indians often use expressions, gestures, and tone with feeling words.

  4. Try adding “बहुत” (bahut – very) for extra emotion:

    • मैं बहुत खुश हूँ। (I am very happy.)

Practice: Try Saying…

  1. मैं बहुत उत्साहित हूँ! (Main bahut utsaahit hoon!) – I am very excited!

  2. मैं थोड़ा दुखी हूँ। (Main thoda dukhi hoon.) – I am a little sad.

  3. डरिए मत! (Dariye mat!) – Don’t be afraid!

  4. मुझे गुस्सा आ रहा है। (Mujhe gussa aa raha hai.) – I am getting angry.

  5. तुम मेरे लिए बहुत खास हो। (Tum mere liye bahut khaas ho.) – You are very special to me.

Final Thoughts

Learning to share your real feelings in Hindi will help you build real friendships, understand movies and songs, and reply with more than just “ठीक हूँ”! Use these words, listen for them in conversation, and don’t be shy—Indians love honest emotions!
